What Single Serve Coffee Maker Is Best for You?

We’ve rounded up the 10 best single serve coffee maker options on the market, you know you want one of the machines but, which one is the best one for you?

Single Serve Coffee Maker Buyers Guide

Type Of Coffee

Deciding what type of coffee you like the most is the best place to start. Do you want the convenience of pods or would you rather buy your own coffee beans?

There’s no right or wrong answer, just personal preference. Think about your daily coffee desires, are you the only one in your household that drinks coffee? Do you have other members of the family who like different types of coffee than you?

Pods are convenient and give the flexibility to brew different kinds of coffee to cater to different palates. Being convenient comes with a cost; pods typically cost more than buying beans but, they also avoid brewing more coffee than you can drink.

If you’ll be sharing the single serve coffee maker with someone who loves tea look into machines that have a separate button for hot water. Hot chocolate lover in the house? Consider machines with a separate button for hot water or compatibility with hot chocolate pods. This could be K-Cups or other pods in general.

Are you environmentally conscious? Nespresso offers a pod recycling program and there are other machines that are compatible with or even come with reusable mesh filters.

Selecting A Single Serve Coffee Maker

After you decide what type of coffee you need your machine to have the capability to brew then you can focus on selecting a machine that fits your needs.

  • Size – in our opinion size is the first thing to consider. Do you have unlimited or limited space? If you need something to fit in a cozy space, you can eliminate larger coffee makers and focus on those that are more compact.
  • Price – if you’re like most of us you have a budget. Focus on the machines that match what you’re looking to spend.
  • Brew Time – do you have time to wait a few minutes for your cup to brew or are you running out the door and need it right away?
  • Customization – do you want to select your cup size, adjust the water temperature, schedule when your cup should brew and how strong it should be? Or prefer to keep it simple?
  • Learning Curve – do you have time to learn a new machine or do you prefer to pull it out of the box, plug it in, and be on your way?

Answering these questions should set you up to make your decision very easy and at the very least narrow the number of machines you’re considering.

Final Word

Our pick for the best single serve coffee maker is the Keurig K-Elite. It’s versatile and competitively priced. If you’re looking for a budget friendly machine, we recommend the Mueller Ultima, the value it offers for its price range is unmatched.

There are plentiful options and it really comes down to the best single serve coffee maker for your personal needs. We hope our reviews have made your decision a little bit easier.
